WoW Alchemy Guide

Alchemy is one of the 11 primary professions available in WoW. With Alchemy you are able to make potions, elixirs, oils, flasks, and cauldrons. The potions can be used to give buffs for smaller periods of times, or to restore mana or hp which is great while leveling and still very useful once you hit level 80. However, more important is the fact that you will be able to make elixirs and flasks that can buff you for 1 or 2 hours. There are Dozens if not one or two hundred different consumables that can be made with the
Alchemy profession.

There are flasks that give you 1300 extra hit points, give you 130 spell power, a lot of mana  regeneration, or about 500 attack power etc. All together you will be able to make neat items that come in handy while leveling, are very important for raids, and can be sold for good cash.  You will need a lot of herbs to level up your Alchemy profession. This is why Herbalism is a great profession to choose next to the Alchemy profession because you will be able to gather the herbs you need to train your Alchemy and to make the consumables.

Below you can find the trainers and some quick guidelines which will help you to get started with your Alchemy profession.

What to make to level your Alchemy profession:

Levels 1-50
In the beginning you can just make 60 minor health potions. Once you have made these you can become a Journeyman Alchemist. You can learn this from your trainer. Note: save these minor healing potions because you will need them later!

Levels 50-125
Now use the minor health potions you made in order to make lesser healing potions. You can make these until you reach skill level 110. If you need some extra point to hit skill level 110 you can make some elixirs of Wisdom. You can train the Healing Potion recipe once you do hit level 110 and these are the potions you should make up to level 125. Once you hit that you can train to become an Expert Alchemist.

Levels 200 - 265
Now it’s time to make Elixirs of Agility up to skill level 210. Then it’s time to make Elixirs of Defense and Superior Healing Potions up to level 230. Now you will need to make Elixirs of Detect Undead toyou’re your skill to 250.  You can then train and make Elixirs of Greater Agility up to skill level 265.

Levels 265 - 300
Get the Superior Mana Potion Recipe from Ulthir in Darnasssus or Algernon in Undercity. Also get the Major Health Potion Recipe from Evie Whirlbrew in Everlook. You can make both these potions to skill up to level 300.

Levels 300-375
In order to get past 300 you need to get the Burning Crusade Expansion. You can make Volatile Healing Potions until you reach skill level 330. From there on you can make Sneaking Potions up to level 350, and Superior Healing Potions to get to 375.

Levels 375-450
From 375 on you should focus on making Guru's Elixirs and Elixirs of Mighty Strength. Once you have made a sufficient amount of these and can learn to make the Elixir of Mighty Agility and the Runic Healing Potion you should make these until they turn green for you. Then it’s a matter of Transmuting and making several Flasks to reach skill level 450.
